Home Insurance & Boilers
I don’t know what the weather is like where you are but it’s unbelievably cold here right now. It got down to -8C overnight last night, which would not pose a problem for you if you were tucked up in a nice warm bed but it may cause problems if these temperatures persist for an extended period of time. If pipes freeze you could be facing serious problems in the boiler room of your home.
Did you know that most home insurance policies do not cover boiler problems? In fact, most do not cover damage caused by boilers either, or damage caused by the weather for that matter. They take the view that the latter problem can be prevented by good maintenance practices and boilers are too expensive to cover. As such, you should consder either switching to a provider that will cover you or, alternatively, take out a standalone insurance product just in case.
