Motorbike Insurance & The Over 65s
A recent study found that the over 65s were getting a raw deal when it came to all sorts of insurance premiums. On travel insurance they were likely to pay more even if they had no previous health concerns. They were likely to pay higher premiums on car insurance because they apparently cause accidents by driving too slowly. However, it was on motorbike insurance that the biggest surprise came. Many bikers over the age of 65 could not get motorbike insurance and those that could had to pay through the nose.
Motorbike insurance providers obviously do not take into account the fact that today’s over 65s are healthier than they have ever been. With more exercise, energy and hobbies, they are just as capable on bikes as their younger counterparts. However, there are some providers bucking the trend and offering motorbike insurance for older people so the key is comparing policies.
