Beware the new policy discount on your home insurance! I recently had my home insurance policy renewal come through my door and was astounded to find that the contents alone had gone up by £15 a month. Now this may not seem like a lot but when you consider the total over the year, it really is. I called to find out why this amount had been added to my policy considering I had not made a claim and was told that it was because my new policy discount, which had been applied when I took out the policy as a new customer the previous year, no longer applied.
This may sound bogus and I believe that it is but it is how companies draw you in and get you to sign up.

Drivers and insurance-holders in Michigan have some new financial worry to handle as the county’s Supreme Court approved the use of credit scores to determine the price of car insurance in the said state. At the same time, insurance institutions and companies in the county such as the Insurance Institute of Michigan consider this turn of events as a major success for them.
The Office off Financial and Insurance Regulations have attempted to ban the usage of credit scores to determine the prices of auto insurance because it believes that if it is implemented it would cause some consequences and problems that the residents of Detroit would find too harsh. D

Does the title of this blog post sound appealing to you? It would do if it meant that you were to get £50 from your cheap car insurance company but unfortunately that is not what it is referring to. Instead, that is exactly how much you are going to be expected to pay extra as a result of the dishonest drivers out there. We all knew that the increasing number of fraudulent claims would eventually put premiums up but when you realise just how much the increase will be it suddenly makes it real.
As an honest driver there is very little you can actually do to prevent the extra £50 being added to your premiums but you can make sure that you keep your own premiums down by being responsible on the road and building up a little no claims bonus. I

You may have missed this van insurance hike, or at least one that is to come in the near future, and I recently discovered that I had yet to write about it so I thought that now was as good a time as any to inform you about it just in case. Now, it is one of the very few elements of tax that has not been as bad as it was first presumed but it is still a rise nevertheless so read on to find out about it.
This concerns the 1% tax rise that applies to general tax. This includes that tax that is applied to car insurance, home insurance and van insurance. As such, it will rise in January 2011 to 6% overall.
