A fifth of cash-strapped drivers (22%) could be persuaded to ditch their current car insurance provider if they were able to save £25 or less, according to research from Moneysupermarket.com.
It found that one in four drivers automatically renew their motor insurance with their existing provider rather than shopping around.
However, comparing deals at renewal time could save customers £348, on average, according to the car insurance comparison site.
When looking regionally, drivers in the South West are looking for a saving of £43.04 compared with Londoners, who say they would need to make a saving of £71.88 to make them switch their car insurance policy.

In the state of California, a new bill called Assembly Bill 1708 was introduced by Assemblyman Mike Gatto.
